Struggling with acne since I was a teenager, I always knew I wanted to be an esthetician and help others! I became a licensed esthetician over 10 years ago, and started my esthetics career on the cosmetics side of the industry. After years of being a makeup artist, I decided I wanted to dedicate my time to helping my clients treat their skin concerns. I have been a medical esthetician since 2016, helping my clients with their skincare goals, but mainly focusing on clearing acne.

We offer a comprehensive approach which includes looking at all factors that may be contributing to your acne. We will do skin treatments in addition to education, coaching, and ongoing support. We can get you clear without the use of prescriptions. We are always available for questions or concerns as you move through the clearing process.

I worked at Acne Specialists’ original Oakland location until 2018. At that time, I had to relocate to Nashville for my husband’s job and was devastated to leave my dream job.
In early 2019, Julie & I opened A|S Nashville & I loved every moment of growing the business with the best team & clients in the world!
After 7 years in Nashville, my family and I decided to head back home to the west coast and open a new location in Long Beach.
Even though I've moved away, I know our clients are in the best hands possible with our amazing Nashville team!"

Hi, I am Julie Pruitt and I started Acne Specialists of Oakland in 2012. I suffered with horrible acne from 13 to 30. I became an esthetician in 2006 so I could help myself and others from this debilitating disease. Luckily, I met Dr. Fulton who wrote the book on acne and learned from him how to effectively perform acne treatments and provide effective acne products. After starting his program, I had my acne under control in 3 months. It was the first time in 17 years that I did not have one pimple on my face and it felt amazing. It brings me so much joy to help others achieve clear skin. Melissa was a client of mine and after she graduated esthetician school she treated clients at our Oakland location. She was with me for years until her husband's job brought her to Nashville where we teamed up to open Acne Specialists of Nashville.

Our Story

"Melissa and I met in 2012 when she became a client of mine at Acne Specialists of Oakland. We immediately hit it off. Her skin cleared up very quickly which inspired her to go back to school to become an esthetician and ultimately the manager at Acne Specialists of Nashville. She mentioned to me that I wasn't judgmental about her acne or what she was using on her skin before seeing me. I'm so happy to know that I made her comfortable - we strive to make sure everyone who comes in our office feels welcome and supported. Melissa also mentioned that I wasn't pushy with my protocol or products, but was more of an educator. I hope together we can make you feel that same way at Acne Specialists of Nashville."
